About The Holistic Dog Groomer

When I started my training, I was surprised and disappointed. There was very little emphasis on behaviour, safe handling and communicating with dogs and this concerned me a great deal. 

As a dog guardian myself, I had already imagined what topics would be covered to ensure I was confident and competent in carrying out the daily duties of a groomer - all of which weren't met. 

It opened up a window of opportunity for me to learn all that I could and, eventually, introduce my own course that would provide students with an in-depth understanding of how to work with dogs safely. 

After completing my practical at the training school, I went on to enrol on numerous behaviour courses, all the while building up my experience as a groomer, as we are trained. I used restraints, often more than one. I used strong-scented products. I bought muzzles, cones and calming cradles and, I observed all of the dog's I was getting through my door. 

Surprisingly, I built up a clientele rather quickly and was nominated for numerous business awards in my first year of trading but, I wasn't satisfied just yet.

Gradually, I changed my entire approach to grooming through the newfound knowledge in behaviour, safe handling and communication. I embraced alternative therapies and experimented with the idea of providing a more holistic-based grooming environment. 

Becoming the Edition Dog Magazine, Dog Grooming Contributor was a major milestone and dream come true for me and really pushed my desire to learn more tenfold. 

I am now operating completely holistically, specialising in dogs with emotional and/or physical trauma. 

Learning is a passion of mine and I don't think I ever will stop learning - my passion to provide the very best standard of holistic care for my own dogs, and my clients is what it is all about. 

Now, you will find me educating and inspiring others to implement the same approach to grooming so that they too can benefit from the magic that is, holistic grooming.
